In 2007\, the  \n Asthma and Allergy Foundation of America named Atlanta the Asthma Capital as  \n it earned its worst score from the city's high asthma death rate\, high pollen  \n levels\, and severe air pollution. Asthma still remains a major problem in  \n Fulton County. According to the American Lung Association\, 24\,657 children  \n and nearly 55\,000 adults suffer from asthma in Fulton County. In an effort to  \n combat this problem\, the Fulton County Department of Health and Wellness\,  \n Division of Health Promotion\, is launching the *Fulton Asthma Improvement and  \n Reduction (FAIR)* program to focus on the state of asthma in Fulton County.  \n The FAIR kick off panel discussion will raise awareness about asthma and  \n allow participants to share strategies for improving asthma care throughout  \n Fulton County. This is one of the several paramount events in Fulton County  \n aimed at improving policies and reducing the health disparities associated  \n with asthma.\n \n Please save the date to join us in the FAIR kick off entitled " Asthma  \n Awareness: Putting the Pieces Together." DESCRIPTION:Learn and Teach about Asthma is designed for persons or groups involved with  \n public education across a variety of disciplines. Asthma is a chronic disease  \n that impacts children and adults disproportionately in Greater Boston and  \n beyond. Educational professionals\, child care educators\, and allied health  \n care professionals often work with persons affected by asthma and can have  \n tremendous impact on the reduction of asthma in their lives. Toward this end\,  \n we are offering this annual 1/2 day course for interested individuals to  \n learn and teach about asthma as part of our goal to reduce racial and ethnic  \n disparities in our communities. We are especially proud to be able to also  \n offer the course in English and in Spanish simultaneously to allow  \n participants who learn better in their native Spanish language to benefit as  \n well from the presentations. It will be a fun 1/2 day for all.
