Positive Health Outcomes
With a primary focus on reducing the burden of asthma in the Richmond Metropolitan area, the Controlling Asthma in the Richmond Metropolitan Area (CARMA) project is proof of Bon Secours Richmond’s mission to provide good help to those in need. While CARMA’s overall goal is to improve the quality of life for children with asthma, each of the project’s eight interventions has its own unique indictors of success and targeted goals.
Case Management - More than 150 children with asthma have received intense home-based case management services. For those children case managed for at least 12 months, there has been a 70% decrease in ED visits and an 86% decrease in hospitalizations.
