The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC)-funded Diabetes Training and Technical Assistance Center provides courses in community health work that are designed to meet the needs of the diabetes prevention and control workforce. Training topics include: the value in creating public-private partnerships; comprehensive models and approaches to worksite health promotion; and the role of non-traditional external partnerships, policies, practices and programs. Training courses consist of multiple modules and readings designed to provide applicable health information within a diabetes-specific context.

The Michigan Public Health Training Center Course, “CHWs and Nurses: Roles and Relationships for Population Health Improvement,” provides participants with certification and continuing education credits through the Michigan Public Health Training Center.
