Asthma Self-Management Education (ASME) Program
The Asthma Self-Management Education (ASME) Program of the Greater Lawrence Family Health Center was developed to reach out to the Latino population living with the burden of asthma in the city of Lawrence. ASME targets both the patients and/or their parents through an individualized high-quality bilingual educational series focused on asthma's pathophysiology, pharmacotherapy, prognosis, and management which culminates with a tailored written action plan. In addition, the program offers a home visit to identify potential triggers and to provide education around practical interventions that can be implemented in the home environment. Lastly, efforts to regularly collaborate with both the cities inspection services, housing development, and public schools is made to ensure optimal asthma management.
