The Healthy Alamance Child Asthma Coalition was formed to reduce the rate of asthma related hospitalizations in Alamance County, reduce the number of school days missed by children with asthma, and to provide families with asthmatic children education and resources to improve their care.

The Healthy Alamance Child Asthma Coalition was formed in 2001, this coalition has an annual meeting schedule to gather at least 4 times per year and has had on-going goals to reduce the rate of asthma related hospitalizations in Alamance County, reduce the number of school days missed by children with asthma, and provide families with asthmatic children education and resources to improve their care.

The coalition improves the health and well-being of asthmatic children and their families by providing education, fostering collaboration and strengthening resources.

The Pediatric Asthma Center located at
Alamance Regional Medical Center educates asthmatic children (birth to age 17) and their families about ways to control and prevent asthma attacks. These services are open to all individuals interested in asthma education.

The Healthy Alamance Child Asthma Coalition is a partnership of Alamance Regional Medical Center, Alamance County Health Department, Alamance-Burlington School System, Smart Start of Alamance County, and also includes local pediatricians, pharmacists, and parents of asthmatic children.
