The asthma counselors are hired by CHCO and funded through the grant from CDPHE. Their backgrounds are health paras in the school before joining our program. The counselor received additional training in patient navigation and on the job training for asthma. One received her asthma educator certification and the rest are certified facilitators for Open Airways for Schools. They are listed on our state navigator registry. They have had additional training in motivational interviewing and screening for SDOH. 3/4 are bilingual. Thank you for asking!
