The Asthma Quality Improvement Committee at the University of Michigan Health System seeks to improve overall asthma care provided by utilizing electronic medical records to track patients and monitor their health outcomes. Emphasis is placed on maintaining an accurate disease registry of asthma patients and collecting relevant data on disease control and quality of care of these patients. This allows us to generate leadership-level and physician-level feedback reports, which are important tools for identifying patients in need of additional interventions. The group also initiates and oversees various efforts to increase asthma knowledge and resources for providers, such as staff education and device training kits.
