The goals of the American Lung Association in Alaska are to enhance asthma surveillance, promote asthma awareness, improve systems of asthma care, promote self-management, reduce exposure to environmental factors that trigger asthma, increase school support, and sustain partnership to address the burden of asthma in Alaska.

The Asthma Safe Kids Pilot Program was developed with the goal of providing in-home asthma education and environmental assessments that would help to reduce ER visits and Inpatient hospital stays. This program works in collaboration with a Medicaid funded health insurance company, nurse-managed health centers and primary care providers.

MedEd Consultants Provides a comprehensive in-home asthma education to asthmatics, with a total of 4 visits in a period of 6 months, to eliminate asthma exacerbation, reduce ED visits, Reduce Unscheduled doctors' visits, and reduce missed school or workdays. We have an environmental component to this program which helps the patient improve the living conditions by eliminating asthma triggers.
