Hospital-based Training Program
The Sinai Asthma Education Training Institute (SAETI) was established in 2006 as a training hub for the Sinai Asthma Program. The goal of SAETI is to provide CHWs and other local and national health care professionals with the skills needed to assist children and adults with asthma to improve asthma control and lead healthier lifestyles. In addition, SAETI aims to increase asthma awareness by providing education to staff of community-based organizations.

Located in Minnesota, St. Catherine University offers a 9-month, 17-credit, Community Health Worker Certificate program that focuses on bridging the gap between cultures and health care systems while mentoring and empowering people to achieve their optimal level of wellness. Texas Healthy Homes Training Center (Certified Training Center for Community Health Workers) provides certification training for public health professionals, community health workers, housing specialists, and agencies involved with children and caregivers, including the Head Start program. The curriculum promotes cross-training of public health and housing practitioners and provides a forum to exchange practical guidance, network and collaborate.

State Certification Board
The Washington State Department of Health: Community Health Worker Training is a free 8-week training session. It includes a combination of online and in-person training designed to strengthen the common skills, knowledge and abilities of the CHW. The training is offered four times a year in seven regions around the state. Through the training program, Washington State has provided core competency training to more than 330 CHWs, and health-specific training to more than 60 CHWs.

The University of Hawaii, Maui College, Community Health Worker Program prepares individuals to work as unlicensed members of health and social services care teams to provide care for individuals in community-based settings. The certificate consists of 17 credits that afford practical information on disease treatment, medications, pharmacology, and community action, among other key areas.

The University of Southern Mississippi Center for Sustainable Health Outreach (CSHO) works to support the role of community health workers as an essential component of sustainable community wellness. Through trainings such as The Community Health Advisor Network (CHAN) Training Workshop I & II and the Annual Unity Conference, designed for and about CHWs, CSHO provides support and technical assistance to CHWs. CSHO also assists CHWs by facilitating partnerships with funders, policy makers, health systems, and community organizations.
