RHAMC is widely recognized as a leader in addressing asthma in our communities. Recognizing the severity of the asthma epidemic, RHAMC provides several programs and initiatives to educate people with asthma and those who care for them:

Fight Asthma Now® is a bilingual asthma management program for youth that teaches them the skills to control asthma – rather than allow their asthma to control them. Through FAN, youth learn how to identify and avoid their triggers, use their medications properly, and keep themselves healthy so they don't miss school days.

Asthma Management is a one hour-program for school staff, parents, or childcare providers that care for anyone with asthma. Participants learn the basics of asthma: triggers, warning signs, medication devices, and how to handle an asthma emergency.

Asthma Friendly Childcare is a two-part webinar available in English and Spanish for childcare facilities and caregivers. The information is specific to people who work in childcare settings and teaches them how to care for children with asthma and ensure that their home/facility is safe for children with asthma.

Healthy Lungs Initiative is a multi-year collaboration between Cook County Health and Hospital Systems and Respiratory Health Association of Metropolitan Chicago.  Healthy Lungs Initiative uses Lung Health Educators to deliver asthma and COPD education, and tobacco cessation counseling services in multiple clinic sites throughout Cook County.
