Of the 138,000 children in Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools (CMS), 14,000 students are affected by asthma. Asthma contributes to school absences and can lead to serious health complications. To address this growing problem, CMS collaborated with the Mecklenburg County Health Department and founded the Asthma Education Program in 2003. CMS is now a recognized leader in asthma and indoor air quality management.

The New Jersey Asthma Symposium

The NJ Asthma Symposium took place on Thursday, August 9th, 2012 and was a great success with over one hundred attendees! The program was designed to provide NJ health care providers with the information to diagnose and treat asthma in accordance with the latest Guidelines from the 2007 National Asthma Education and Prevention Program (NAEPP), coordinated by the National heart, Lung, and Blood Institute (NHLBI), as the latest set of clinical practice recommendations for asthma, including environmental controls.
